Interview Preparation:
Write or update your resume before you go on any interview. Accumulate all related data for your resume so it's accurate and current. Often times a casual interview will surface. If the interviewer says, don't worry about not having a resume, remember even though it's not required, you're still making an impression.
List your Achievements, Quota's, Percentages attained, Accolades, Assignments Performed and accurate Employment Dates. Cover all employment breaks. Don't cover employment breaks by extending prior dates. Build a "Personal Marketing Book". Clear cover folder, include the following. Include only photo copies of all items, all the way back to college success's. This is not to leave at interview......"Only for Interviewer's eyes during interview". If, at the end of the interview, you're really interested, offer to bring an additional copy upon return.
Include any copies of documents that might substantiate your credibility as a professional. The "Personal Marketing Book" helps to establish your credibility, demonstrates your organizational skills, helps establish how serious you are regarding your career while giving the interviewer something to look at while you're telling him about your success, skills and desires. Remember... The interviewer has heard every story and found disappointment by the majority of candidates interviewed. You need to differentiate yourself from the masses. Have you researched the company, their industry. Make sure you have a feel for industry trends, the companies market strengths, weaknesses and who the market leaders are. Compose a list of meaningful questions for all your interviews. Consider what questions might be asked of you and prepare potential responses. |
