started in the Recruiting Industry in the fall of 1971. Steve is eminently qualified
in all levels of Recruiting... In-depth-Interviewing, Psychological Testing, Career
Planning and Outplacement Consulting.
The first ten years of Steve's career was spent
with a modest executive recruiting and consulting firm in Los Angeles. That firm was
started in the early 60's by one of the industry's originators. Steve focused on general
recruiting in thirty vertical industries with a forceful stake in technology. He
attended to ten metropolitan markets across the United States. Steve held every position
within the organization.
Along with carrying an established client base, in
1974, Steve Ross was promoted Partner and Vice President of Operations. From 1975 to 1981,
Steve participated in the expansion of the office, reaching a maximum of fifty consultants
plus staff members. From 1974 to 1981, Steve Ross was the with the company.
In 1981, Steve left his prior company to
established a Human Resource Consulting business that stepped over the traditional lines
of expectation. In Oct. 1981, S.R & Associates was founded &
incorporated.
Steve held that the recruiting industry would have
to be more dynamic, creative and technology driven to accept the demands of the
future. The recruiting process was evolving; however many long time industry leaders
were not. The industry's reputation needed an overhaul.
Our clients were trying to remain competitive, so
the recruiting industry needed to accommodate their timely and technological demands, not
to mention their financial limitations and volatile growth patterns. We had to
adjust our attitude and costs to accommodate 100% growth rates per year, doubling employee
size in 6 months, Pre-IPO's frenzies, mergers, acquisitions and downsizing trends.
In 1982, very few Recruiting Firms were
computerized and very few had any insight into how the Internet was going to
change the face of recruiting. The recruiting industry had to adjust to new capital expenditures
associated with their future. A quicker response time to recruiting was at
hand and in-depth knowledge of the client's products, services, along with more attention
needed to be paid to the candidate's needs.
Understanding the client culture is a key component
in knowing which candidates will fit long term. We
also need to find new ways of developing strategic candidate talent pools.
In the last 29 years Steve Ross has personally
interviewed more than 200,000 candidates. He has enjoyed guiding over 3600 of those candidates
in their career changes.
Since 1977, only 25 candidates have left their
positions within a year of their starting date.
Steve Ross also has written an Application in Visual
Basic & Access Basic for the Independent or Small Recruiting Firm. He has also
developed a recruiter's training manual, along with a candidate preparation &
interviewing manual.
